There are trees that live as long as we do. In fact, we live longer than Persimmon or even black willow. On the other hand, Alaska Red Cedar can live up to 3,500years. Giant Sequoias can last over 3,000 years and at least one Bristlecone pine is estimated to be almost 5,000 years old. (https://www.gardenikngknowhow.com)
If we could emulate this longevity, we might learn something. As it is, we seem to be stuck in cycles of the Zodiac, wherein we are given an new lesson only every 2150 years, after which we devolve until the next lesson comes our way. The fact that we might reincarnate once or twice during this period didn't, so far, bear much fruit.
In us, humans, our egos take precedence over our higher self — over the individualization of the Omnipresent Energy of Creative Consciousness. Religionists call is spirit. Our science has upgraded the definition to "energy of consciousness".
So... let us get back to trees.
Until man began destroying them, trees survived thousands of years. Some still do. And why? Because they are miracles loved by the vast majority of peoples. Love is a positive energy that manifests immortality. In her book "The MIRACLE OF METAPHYSICAL HEALING", Evelyn M. Monahan offers a few hints on how, even in this phenomenal reality, we can be (almost?) as immortal as trees. Not that we'd want to, but we would be the ones making the choice.
She offers the following traits which we would need to espouse. In fact, we would have to declare with utter confidence that...
1. "I am a magnificent creation and I share in the creative force that powers this universe."
2. "In each man there is a reflection of every other man. I am a reflection of the ultimate force which has made all things."
3. "I share the unlimited potential of all creation. My thoughts are the building blocks of my future."
4. "The beauty of my mind is unsurpassed by loveliness of any sunset. I will not mar the magnificence of my mind with even one negative thought."
5. "My thoughts are the building blocks from which my world is created. In order to fill my world with endless beauty, I shall think only beautiful thoughts."
Hence, let us be more like trees. Let our espouse our higher self that controls the life-force in all living creatures.
Welcome to my world!
The collateral of these thoughts and the attendant creative power is that we no longer feel like dying, having created a heaven for ourselves right here, on earth. This power is available to everyone of us. All we need is commitment. After all, we know that Heaven is a state of consciousness. On the other hand, should we meet with an accident precipitated by actions not our own, our state of mind would assure us of a wondrous future in the Devachan, which in Sanskrit means "dwelling of the gods", or what saint Paul called, "heaven" (2 Corinthians 12:2).
To repeat, not a "heaven" of eternal rest (requiescat in pace) which I equate with eternal boredom, but a reality in which our creative thoughts are manifested as fast as in our lucid dreams. A heaven in which we truly exercise our divine powers.
Though here, in this phenomenal reality of Earth, those powers are already within us, and a deep sense of faith and commitment can manifest them to an almost the same degree. Yet, until now, such powers appear to manifest only in a few saints, mystics, and a few people who claimed, or have been taken to be, messiahs.
It is all up to us.
Should you wish to delve deeper into the matter of our potential I offer my books, particularly CONCLUSIONS, MAGIC OF THE ZODIAC, and, of course, KEY TO IMMORTALITY. The powers within us are as infinite as those that created the phenomenal universe. Hence, our journey to their fulfillment is equally infinite.
Life is a process, not a destination, and it is ours to enjoy.
