Peter and Paul: IMAGE AND LIKENESS

Once again, dear old Albert Einstein came to our help. Or.. he managed to confuse us completely. For as long as the presumptuous, yet very ordinary (average?) people have been told by the brazen, arrogant, audacious members of the sacerdotal fraternities that we are made "in the image and likeness of God," they, i.e.: we, presumably you and I, continued to imagine that God, the Father of us all, had been a very large, incredibly old man, who looked like us, only was very much more powerful.

And then, dear old Albert ruined all the fun.

ALL IS ENERGY, he declared.

What, God too?

"ALL MEANS ALL"

I can almost hear Albert rejecting facile objections from his illustrious colleagues determined to stick to established mores.

"God... an energy?" they must have thought, "With a capital E?"

And there was another problem. Genesis 1:27 (KJV) states, quite clearly, that not only "God created man in his own image", but... you won't believe this, "in the image of God created he him;" And then out of the blue the scribe added: "male and female created he them."

Him and them.

I would have thought God would have been a hermaphrodite. Or at least Adam would have been until Eve came into the picture... Or could that have been the meaning? Ever since I read this I couldn't decide if God was a He or a She. The infallible words of God can be most confusing. Or the meaning was lost, somewhere, in the translation. Or symbolism? Or "improved" by the scribes?

Maybe, after all, we ought to stick to Energy with a capital E?

I'm glad I wasn't there when Albert made his announcement. I would, most probably, belong to the "illustrious" group. After all, it's not easy to give up concepts with which one has grown up. The kindly yet powerful image on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel kept hovering at the periphery of my inner vision. And, let's face it, how could one ask Energy a question? Or say thank you? Or even be afraid of...

And what of the traditional "image and likeness." Surely, it doesn't mean that we are energy also, you know, in the image and likeness of who now is also Energy!

That's not funny.

Except that... we are made up of atoms, and atoms are, we are told, essentially... empty space. On second thought, I'd rather be some form of energy that an bundle of empty space.

(Although I met people who seemed full of hot air!)

And yet, there must be something to it. After Yeshûa (Jesus) declared that Heaven is within you, reality for us, "believers" would never be the same. Of course, most of us make mistakes. There is nothing written anywhere that Yeshûa was infallible.

Or... was He? After all, He admitted that He was the Son of God.

On the other hand, He also said that all of us, under certain conditions, are children of the Most High. Children of High Energy?

Problems...

Perhaps we ought to go back more than 2 millennia. Going back to Moses, some 3500 years ago, we have been given a hint:

I AM was the author of the 10 Commandments.

That brought me to the "Heaven is within you" clause. Isn't that where God resides? Heaven? Still confused? Then you'd better read all six of my booklets. The ancients were very clever people. We... today... not so much.
