Peter and Paul: AWAKENING

This is just a fantasy. We might awaken. Or... we might not. What if Mother Nature, which (or who) conducted evolutionary trends for countless billions of years, decided that the human species is not fulfilling its function? What if we were intended to increase the biological diversity on Earth, and... we didn't? After all, when such a condition happened in the past, or even is happening now, Mother Nature gets rid of the redundant species and creates a new one.

Our illustrious scientists of the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity (working hard to earn our tax money) concluded that "Every day, up to 150 species are lost." That, they add, could be as much as 10% every decade.

And then there are wars, murders, religiously inspired mass-suicides (or more murders), as well as man induced sicknesses such as obesity, alcoholism, smoking, drugs, and other self-destructive pastimes. Hobbies? Or indications that man's time on Earth is running out?

So, what would Mother Nature do?

She (He or It, or as I call It: "The Omnipresent Indestructible Creative Energy of Consciousness") has terminated even advanced species before. The dinosaurs that appeared in the Triassic period, became the dominant terrestrial vertebrates, and remained such for some 165 million years... went extinct. We can only imagine that they, the magnificent reptiles, did not suffer from man's multitudinous peccadilloes. Yet, when the time came, they became totally extinct.

Why?

Because nature (or my Omnipresent Indestructible Creative Energy of Consciousness), strives on diversity. How else could we explain the seemingly eternal expansion of the Phenomenal Universe?

Multitudinous ideas expressed in multitudinous complex vortices of energy manifesting in multitudinous life forms.

The solution is relatively simple. Man, who is, and has been, a host to some 40 trillion microorganisms for a few million years has not evolved a single new multifarious species. From the evolutionary point of view we, humans, are a total failure. In fact we continuously produce gadgets which minimize our chances of doing anything creative in the the field of Creative Energy of Consciousness. That the field where ideas are born.

Is nature still trying?

After all, the dinosaurs disappeared some 66 million years ago. Before they disappeared, they may have been responsible for some 20,700 living species of diverse vertebrates. In addition, the "paleontologists have identified over 900 distinct genera and more than 1,000 different species of non-avian dinosaurs." (Wikipedia) Surely, that's a fair contribution to diversity. There must have been many attempts at diversity since they left us — before man appeared on the scene. Our contribution?

Zilch!

So what can Nature do?

Get rid of us, and try again.

How?

A half-decent virus might do the trick. (1) And if it doesn't, Nature can try new mutations. On, and on, and on, until the human species ceases to exist. After all, many other species developed magnificently. Imagine the birds, or even butterflies, flying for thousands of miles to find their favourite spot, year after year, without the use of a GPS. No Human could do such a thing. Neither fly nor find the directions. I think both, birds and butterflies have a promising future. They are evolving.
