Peter and Paul: DEVOLUTION

Almost daily we see evidence that ancient people displayed technology, let alone science, vastly exceeding our own. Our scientists are only beginning to rediscover constituents of our reality, which millennia ago had been common knowledge. There is one, and only one difference. In the past the essence of reality was known as "spirit". Our scientists have renamed it. They now call it "energy".

The attributes of both are identical.

They are both the building blocks, or energies, that create our reality.

To give some indication of how slowly the process of devolution takes place, the ancient Babylonians observed that it corresponds to certain celestial movements. Their system of a 12-month calendar, (each assigned a zodiac sign), is used to this day. They also observed that during each segment of the specific interrelationship of celestial bodies certain specific traits seemed to take precedence in human behaviour.

They called this the Cycle of the Zodiac. The complete cycle spans 25,800 years and is divided into roughly 2,150 equal constellations. That, apparently, is how long it takes us to ruin, or forget, each of the lessons assigned to that segment.

It seems arduous progress...

We can now add to this knowledge another confirmation. As we know, all such knowledge had been protected by intricate symbolism. Another group of ancient wise men, the Hebrews, observed that human evolution continues in cycles, though not as our scientists imagined. Again the ancient wise men had the right idea, which their "devolving" successors converted into a religion. I am referring to the "Garden of Eden" (a State of Consciousness), which is reputed to have been equivalent to "Paradise" where our devolution began. Yet, in time, as our egos began to assert their individuality, "we" (Adam and Eve) had been kicked out of there.

They lost the awareness of Oneness. Of Singularity of Being.

Nevertheless, this devolution affects ONLY the human race.

By evolving biological units which are equipped with a biological computer (the brain), the Omnipresent Consciousness evolved a system for increasing the diversity of energies generated by those very brains. Diversity is necessary for the trial-and-error system of the Universal, as against Human, evolution. As the Creative Energy is omnipresent and inexhaustible, and yet undifferentiated, only the method of trial-and-error can assure that all possible frequencies of the original Creative Energy of Consciousness could be exploited. The Omniscience assigned to this Creative Energy does not imply perfect manifestations, only an inexhaustible number of them.

We must never forget that ALL manifestations are no more than transient, illusory attempts at finding a perfect expression for the infinite possibilities extant in the Potential.

Returning to the problem of devolution, the Jains of ancient India suspected that such a system may control our lives. We start at the very top of the knowledge that our intelligence can support, and exploit all possibilities it offers. Then, gradually, venturing beyond its effectiveness (perhaps in search of diversity), we descend to the nadir of our understanding. When we reach the lowest level, our numbers are reduced. The few "Chosen Ones" who retained the original intent, are given new opportunities, and start once again at the apex of new understanding. Slowly they begin creating a new reality of higher frequencies of vibration of energy. As their numbers increase, their quality is diluted.

The cycles continue.

This is an ongoing system that is supported by the concept of reincarnation, which allows evolutionary cycles to reemploy all energies extant in the Potential Reality.

It may be wise to note that only the Energy of Consciousness exhibits an infinite frequency of vibration hence making It omnipresent, eternal, and indestructible. As such, it is the Source of all other energies that were, and continue to be, metamorphosed into slower frequencies of vibration.

This cycle is eternal.
