I'd like to share with you the concept of Heaven as envisioned by Theosophy. H.P. Blavatsky, in her books Esoteric Buddhism and later in Isis Unveiled, shared with us knowledge which to me, raised as a Roman Catholic, was completely unknown. Perhaps you suffer from the same problem.
The Catholics seem to live in perpetual fear of conceptual competition. In fact, until 1966 (Pope Paul VI) they had a list of forbidden books (Index Librorum Prohibitorum) which Catholics were forbidden to read. People who read them were under the deadly threat of excommunication, thus, spiritual damnation.
Nevertheless, I find Blavatsky's books most enlightening, particularly as regarding "Heaven". Not the Catholic Heaven or Hell where people suffer either from perpetual boredom ("resting in peace") or from continuous torture.
No.
The Theosophical "Heaven" is called Devachan, loosely translated as "dwelling of the gods", (echoes of biblical "ye are gods") and appears to resemble a wonderful dream. Devachan seems to be a reality like ours only created at much higher frequency of vibrations. Such improvements enable us to not only enjoy the freedom we experience in our earthly dreams, but to sustain this freedom for many years. Imagine the most glorious dream you ever had and then extend it for a number of centuries. Or, if we're lucky, much longer. After the spell we earned, most of us return to Earth to keep learning. I'd suspect that eventually, we continue our evolution at higher frequencies.

Having said that, I invite you to study the Key to Immortality diligently, because whatever future we'll encounter after we leave our Earthly bodies, every one of us will be their sole architects. Thus, our gratitude to Thomas who, drawing his knowledge from Jesus, will help us to enhance whichever future we shall create with thoughts that enhance the Phenomenal Universe. Later we might advance to even higher Devachans, of which, I strongly suspect, there is an infinite number, until we blend, again, with the Original Energy of Creative Consciousness.
We are the products of the Universe. Our job is to enhance its diversity.
That's it.
And let us never forget the Black Holes. They are the mysterious swirling vortices where energies which did not enhance the Universe are recycled. We must never forget that all is energy and thus we, too, are made up of energy. We can choose to metamorphose other energies to enhance the Phenomenal Universe, and thus become indispensable to the Universe, or be metamorphosed into the original energy from which we evolved. Our choice.
For me, immortality holds powerful attraction...
Good luck!
