I have been taught that we evolved from lower animals, and that now we have reached the stage of (apprentice?) gods. Keep thinking that, if it makes you happy. But, regrettably, one day you'll wake up to the truth. Even as I did. One day, having read a dozen books, and spent dozens of hours in meditation, I managed to forget what I have been taught in school. The truth began to seep into my more receptive mind. Yet, again regrettably, I soon learned that my new awareness pushed me down even lower on the evolutionary scale.
I've learned that I know nothing. Welcome Socrates.
I discovered that I am a primitive being who, like Adam, got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, due to my incorrigible pride. Happily or not, I also discovered that we have little to be proud of. No, we are not perennial sinners, as some religions would claim. We are simply primitive, often retarded, incredibly ignorant, invariably prideful, spoiled... children.
Yes, children in a fairly benevolent kindergarten, where we are permitted to make dozens of mistakes and, more often than not, get away with it.
Why?
Because the Benevolent Universe needs us.
What for?
For making mistakes which contribute to added diversity into the artificial reality of the Phenomenal Universe, which the Omnipresent Universal Creative Energy cannot do without our participation.

The Omnipresent Universal Creative Energy is incapable of creating anything that is not perfect. The ancient thinkers, who personified the Energy, knew that (1). Yet the Phenomenal Universe cannot exist without constant input of diverse rates of vibration, which lead to further enhancement (read expansion) of the Phenomenal Universe. After all, the Potential is infinite, hence the phenomenal reality must be likewise. And, since the Universe is eternal, the Creative Energy needs, periodically, a new means for expanding Its Phenomenality.
Today, on Earth, we are the means.
Tomorrow?
Who can tell? The answer may be beyond our imagination.
Perhaps a quantum computers will take over. Or some creation of which we cannot even think today. Or extraterrestials might take over. After all, our scientists tell us that the universe is stranger than we can imagine. So is the Infinite Potential of Creative Energy.
Until we, yes, the whole human race, will realize this, we shall continue to walk in circles. In Vicious Circles. Maybe not for ever, but the first step will be to accept responsibility for our thoughts, which generate our creative energy. This would lead to the development of Secular Ethics, as suggested by HH Dalai Lama. A set of Ethics in which we do not blame fate, or God, or any real or imaginary being, with or without a capital letter — yes even a capital G.

It is more than evident that the Creative Energy of the Omnipresent Consciousness has given us the means to create our own reality. It includes the ability to metamorphose the Potential Creative Energy. We can slow down the original (infinite) rate of vibration.
We are told that the Universe is stranger than we can imagine. And yet, some people performed inexplicable "miracles". There are eastern yogis, a few Christian saints, and, of course, Yeshûa, later known as Jesus Christ. They all metamorphosed the rate of vibration of energy. They proclaimed Yeshûa to be the Son of God. And this in spite of the fact that He claimed, repeatedly, that WE ARE ALL children of the "Most High," repeating the words of the ancient prophet who asserted that "Ye are gods." (2)
So the potential is within us.
Within every single one of us.
Yet, until we accept this designation and the consequences resulting from it, we shall continue to walk in vicious circles.
So... do you now believe me that we are in kindergarten? Think about it. You have plenty of time. Everything is energy, and energy is indestructible. (3) Hence, you and I are also energy, and that, lo and behold, that makes us immortal, too. Remember?

(3) In 1905, Einstein proved that energy and mass are related. ... The principle of the conservation of energy says that energy is indestructible; it only transforms from one form to the other. So too, mass. In other words, both matter and energy are indestructible. (Google)

each discussing the mysteries of the Phenomenal Reality.
Hopefully they will assist in eventual development of Secular Ethics.
