The GATE—Things my Mother Told Me

We all grow old. This is as inevitable as tomorrow following today. It’s how we get there that matters.
This is not really a blog.
This is my need to share with you the memories of my Mother, even though she left her phenomenal body some years ago. The novel I’d written in her honour is only partially biographical, but all elements in it are based on truth, if not actual events.
It is also an intriguing and, hopefully, captivating look at the last sixty years of Western Culture. While witnessing hilarious life in an Old Peoples’ home, we learn about Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This book also offers you a chance to prepare for old age with subtle wit, compassion, faith, and lots of laughter.
If you have grandparents whose life consist of just memories—read this.
If you have a mother or a father whose heads are turning gray—read this.
If you are reaching the age of retirement from active life, and occasionally forget what day of this week this is—read this.
And if you are still young, physically and mentally, then read this to know how the others might feel. Read this to laugh, and cry, and feel feelings you didn’t know well within you. Read this book to enjoy life until the very end.
Read this for the pure joy of living, but also learn.

People have said that “The Gate—Things my Mother told me” draws you in with subtlety, wit, compassion and faith. It holds you even though we all know how her story is going to end. It will be of particular interest to people who experienced Alzheimer's or Dementia in their immediate family.
"This is a jewel of a piece of writing…"
